Come join the community conversation Reflecting on Poverty in Our Own Backyard on Friday, August 24, from 7 to 9 pm at New Beginnings, 35 DeGarmo Road in Poughkeepsie…and bring a friend! Mid-Hudson Love In the Name of Christ has organized this TED Talk Screening & Community Conversation to build awareness of the complex issues around poverty, to give voice to individuals struggling with limited resources, and to strengthen community collaboration.

The evening will include the screening of three short, inspirational TED talks on poverty by individuals from different walks of life. There will be responses from a panel of professionals from local agencies including Astor Services for Children & Families, the public school system, Pathstone, Social Services, Habitat, and possibly others. Staff from Mid-Hudson Love INC will moderate, and light refreshments will be offered.  (TED Talks are short, powerful presentations recorded by the nonprofit, TED, designed to share big ideas, thoughtful perspectives, innovative research, and inspirational experiences.)
