Mid-Hudson Love In the Name of Christ Update January 19, 2017

Many exciting things are happening at Mid-Hudson Love INC.  Read about them below, and pray about whether God is calling YOU to join us in ministry!

Welcome to our NEW BOARD MEMBERS – Ann Derwin Doyle (The Mission Church), Susan Minard (Calvary Chapel), Jewel Ratzlaff (New Beginnings), Liz Slaughter (Changepoint), and Denise Walters (Bethel Missionary Baptist)!  THANK YOU to our retiring board members – Bob Cohen (St. John’s Lutheran) and Glenn Van Heemst (New beginnings).

There are many opportunities to VOLUNTEER with Love INC –

  • In the Clearinghouse – answering phones, keeping records, praying with clients over the phone, etc.
  • Transportation – bringing clients to and from Love INC workshops and classes.
  • LINC Volunteers – visiting Love INC clients in their homes and/or walking along side a neighbor in need as they attend our 4-week life-skills “Building Hope” workshops.  (Training is required to be a LINC volunteer.  See information below.)
  • Furniture Delivery – picking up donated furniture and delivering it to our neighbors in need.
  • So much more – You might be surprised how you can serve others and share Love In the Name of Christ.

If you are interested in any of the above opportunities or if you would like to explore where you might fit in, contact Jewel Ratzlaff, our Volunteer Coordinator at 845-896-4126 or info@mhlinc.org.  She’d be happy to talk to you about where you and your unique gifts and talents could be used to serve our neighbors in need.

The COOKIE WALK is coming!  Save the date – Saturday, February 11, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church (2381 New Hackensack Rd, Poughkeepsie).  Click here for more information.  Of course, we also need cookie bakers for this event.  If you would like to bake and donate cookies, please contact your church liaison or simply drop off your labeled cookies at Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church on Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

LINC TRAINING will be offered Thursday evenings, February 2 and 9, 6:30-9:00 p.m. at New Beginnings (35 DeGarmo Road, Poughkeepsie).  Training Session #1 (February 2) discusses generational poverty, goal-setting, and expectations.  Training Session #2 (February 9) covers topics including active listening, boundaries, and support.  RSVP to Volunteer Coordinator Jewel Ratzlaff at 845-896-4126 or info@mhlinc.org.

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.  ~1 John 4:7
